My Evening Skincare Essentials

evening skincare essentials blog post

When it comes to removing my makeup, especially after a long day - it's so easy to grab a wipe and just rub it all over my face, (cringe). However, for the past couple of years I have been really good with looking after my skin. I have tried and tested lots of different products and I'm now settled with some favourite skincare products.

Bobbi Brown Eye Repair Cream
I think I have been using this for around two years. Using this every night before I head to sleep really helps with battling the dark circles in the mornings. As the under eye areas are quite delicate, this cream keeps them bright and hydrated and make those fine lines less visible. I think it will always be my favourite and it's definitely worth every penny. Get it here for £48.

The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
As my eyes are quite sensitive, I have tried many eye makeup removers and the majority of them have irritated my eyes. This particular eye makeup remover is really gentle and takes any stubborn makeup off really easily without needing to rub excessively. Get it here for £7.50.

Simple Soothing Facial Toner
I have been using the Simple brand for years, simply because it's targeted at sensitive skin and I've always got on with their products. It certainly refreshes the skin and tightens the pores. I love a good toner. Get it here for £3.49.

Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Facial Oil
I like to use this facial oil just before applying my moisturiser. The smell of this oil is utterly gorgeous, who doesn't love the smell of roses? My skin feels so fresh and hydrated after using this. Get it here for £49.90.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser
To remove your makeup and to give your face a good deep cleanse, this cream cleanser is amazing and so affordable. It really doesn't take much effort to cleanse with this product. Get it here for £8.

Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream
I love smothering my face in a good ol' night cream before heading to bed. This extra firming one is my most favourite yet. You can most definitely see a difference in the texture of the skin and it also makes my skin loads brighter. Get it here for £56.

What are your evening go-to products? Have you tried any of these?

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Review

makeup revolution concealer review

makeup revolution conceal and define review

When I saw all the hype about how good this concealer was and that it was a dupe for the Tarte Tape Shape concealer, I knew I had to give it a go. Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define has been sold out pretty much everywhere, I honestly didn't think I'd be able to get my hands on it. But, when I stumbled upon TAM Beauty, I saw that it was in stock and I didn't have to think twice. It went straight into my shopping cart - there was no messing around. I guessed my shade from reading the description of each concealer and C2 is perfect!

Considering it's a drugstore brand, with quite a big range of 18 shades, I'm impressed! Also, how gorgeous is the rose gold design?! The applicator is chunky and it picks up just enough product for one application. The way it gives full coverage after one application is beyond me. As it's so full coverage and has a thick consistency, I expected it to be fairly heavy on the skin but it's really lightweight.

I would usually conceal all the areas I need to first, blend them out and then set in place with my powder. However, as this concealer dries quite quickly, I wanted to avoid creasing. So I conceal under one eye first, blend it and then set with my powder. Then I move onto the other eye and repeat with any other areas. I found that a damp beauty blender worked best for blending this concealer out and let me tell you now, it blends out beautifully!

I didn't have any creasing throughout the day but it did settle in my tiny fine lines in the inner parts of my eyes. Although it weren't too noticeable, maybe applying an under eye primer beforehand would stop that from happening. The coverage really does last all day which is amazing considering the concealer itself is only £4! I would honestly pay way more money for this. Makeup Revolution has upped their game massively. This is now one of my favourite makeup staples, you have to get your hands on this!

Copper Makeup for Valentines Day

copper makeup blog

With Valentines Day fast approaching, I created this look which can be both subtle and more full on. Usually, I would go for pale pinks and light browns but I thought that I would be a little more adventurous as I have improved my makeup skills.

I always start by doing my eye makeup first, so I filled in my brows using the Freedom brow pomade in soft brown and set them in place using L'Oréal's brow artist plumper. I primed my eyes using the Urban Decay primer potion and went in with the copper/red shade from the Shaaanxo palette in the creases of my eyes and blended it out. I then used the shade 'element' from Urban Decays Moondust palette with a wet brush and patted it all over my eyelids. I made sure it was all blended out before moving onto the rest of my face.

I used the L'Oréal True Match foundation in the shade '2.N Vanilla' and concealed with the True Match concealer in 'Ivory'. I set my face with the L'Oréal infallible pressed powder. To contour, I used the Sleek contour kit in 'light' and contoured my cheekbones, the sides of my nose and temples. I highlighted my cheekbones, just under the eyebrows, inner corners of the eyes, down my nose and my cupids bow with Louise Young's 'owls' highlighter.

I used the copper shade from the Shaaanxo palette to put on my lower lash line. I didn't need to put any mascara on my lashes as I have individuals anyway but I still put some Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara on my bottom lashes. I finished my eyes off using Rimmels black soft kohl pencil liner. I don't like my lips being too full-on, so I kept on track with the copper look but I didn't want anything too bright - so I went for NYX's Lingerie lipstick in 'bedtime flirt' which matched perfectly. I then set my face in place using Urban Decays de-slick setting spray.

The Big Sleep Jelly Bomb Review

the big sleep jelly bomb review

I had been looking forward to using this to see what the 'jelly' part was all about. I instantly imagined it turning my bath water to blue jelly. Who remembers those jelly bath packets being advertised on TV? Yes, that's exactly how I imagined my bath turning out. My inner child was excitably curious. I like the whole design and colours of this bath bomb. There is meant to be a crescent moon on it too, but I didn't have one on mine. Come on Lush, sort it out!

Lush states:
"Slip into something more comfortable: your bath! When you're in need of some serious relaxation, grab this snoozy lullaby of lavender and tonka. Relax in the water, pop it in and soak under the skin softening jelly blanket. Chamomile calms the skin and the mood while neroli helps you feel uplifted."

This bath bomb really smells gorgeous. I'm glad that the lavender wasn't too overpowering as I'm not that keen on lavender. The blue and green colours swirling out made it look so pretty and there were so many bubbles produced under running water compared to other Lush bath bombs I've used. I normally pop in a little bit of bubble bath with other bath bombs but that weren't the case with this particular one.

I'm not really sure about the 'jelly' part. People have said that they had problems with it dissolving but I only had a few little jelly lumps and they dissolved really quickly. I suppose the jelly made my skin soft but the majority of Lush's bath bombs make my skin soft anyway so I can't really comment too much on that. Otherwise, it did relax me but it didn't make me feel sleepy like I was expecting it to or like it should've done.

Have you ever tried the big sleep jelly bomb?
