Naked 2 vs Naked 3: Which One to Buy...

naked 2 vs naked 3

I have only recently begun to properly love Urban Decay. The Naked 3 palette was the first UD product I owned and I used it near enough every day. As I loved it so much, I decided that I wanted the Naked 2 palette for Christmas. I think I will eventually end up owning every palette. The smoky palette is actually next on my list, hah!

Maybe I should've cleaned the palette before taking pictures of it, oops, I'm sure you don't mind. Everything about this palette is so pretty. Like all of Urban Decays palettes, they're so pigmented. Although, I do find that some shades are a little more pigmented than others. I also find that some shades are more loose than pressed. For example, you only need to dip your brush in once for 'dust' and 'blackheart' as it picks up so much product. Whereas, you have to brush multiple times on 'trick' and 'burnout' to get the colour you want. If you love pink and shimmery shades, then this will soon be your new bff.

naked 2 palette review

As you can see, this palette is a lot cleaner than the Naked 3 palette. There's a mixture of warm and cool tones in this palette compared to Naked 3 which is just full of warm tones. Again, some shades are more pigmented than others and there's some that are loose and pressed. It was so hard choosing my favourite palette as I love both of them the same. I think Naked 2 has to be my favourite though as there's more of a range of colours and I'd wear these colours more than the ones in Naked 3.

All of the shades in both of the palettes are long-lasting and true to how they look in the palette. They're also really lightweight and easy to blend.
Overall, the quality of the palettes are exactly the same, the colour themes are just different. Do you own any of the Naked palettes? If you don't which one out of these two would you choose to buy?

Freedom Makeup - My New Favourite Drugstore Makeup Brand?

freedom makeup review

After hearing a positive review on Freedoms pro brow pomade, I headed straight to the Superdrug website. There's a huge range of colours to choose from. I bought 'soft brown' and I'm so glad I did because it's the perfect colour! I haven't personally tried ABH brow pomade but this could definitely be a dupe and I think every other person that has tried this would say the same.
It's a very creamy product and a little goes a long way, you really don't need a lot of product on your brush to fill in your brows. I can't see myself running out of this anytime soon. It's soft, long-lasting, easy to blend and work with. Honestly, I won't go back to any other brow product now I've tried this and for only £5, I think it should be worth more.

freedom brow pomade review

I had never tried the Freedom brand before and as the Freedom products were on a 3 for 2 offer, I decided to go with the offer. As I had never tried colour correcting before, I decided to buy this palette. Again, this was £5. I didn't realise how good this palette would be. I'll never apply my makeup without colour correcting ever again, it really does make a difference! You can't see any redness and it hides the dark circles under your eyes.

freedom contour stick review

I usually stick to using powder for contouring as I find it a lot easier to use than cream contours. I bought this in the colour 'medium'. I still don't know why I bought medium instead of light, I'm so confused haha. Anyway, this is totally the wrong colour for me. It's way too dark for my skin tone and it's quite orange undertoned too. The highlighter doesn't even do anything either.
It is a good creamy consistency for how cheap it looks. Although, it's a nightmare to blend out. I'm disappointed with this product, it's mainly my fault as I bought the wrong colour. But even if it was the right colour, it would still be hard to blend out, look cheap and the highlight would still be useless. Good thing this was £5. Have you tried Freedom makeup?

Boux Avenue's Backless & Strapless Bra!

boux avenue backless and strapless bra review blog

Had enough of questioning yourself and googling whether or not this 'magic' bra works? I have just the answer you're looking for!
After buying a dress which was completely backless, I had limited options. I either buy boob tape and nipple covers or I buy a backless and strapless bra and hope for the best that it works. As it was a night out in the city, I really wanted something to support me but wouldn't unstick halfway through the night, (how awks would that be!). So I went for both options and bought the bra, boob tape and nipple petals just to be on the safe side.

The bra is already moulded into shape and it has clear, flimsy wings either side. It comes with two sets of replacement tape which you stick on the wings so you can wear the bra twice. You can buy some more replacement tape for the wings so you can make use of your bra again. It surprised me how sticky this tape is, it really works! Once the bra is on, you can't see the clear wings at all.

After a few hours, it had moved itself a little so I had to do a little bit of adjusting. By the end of the night, my bra was starting to unstick. Luckily I bought the boob tape and just stuck that vertically over the wings. I guess this happened because I got all sweaty after dancing all night. Boux Avenue also suggests to not wear moisturiser as the bra won't stick to your skin.

If you need a backless and strapless bra for a few hours, hell yeah go for it! The support from this bra was perfect for my size but if you have a bigger bust, I personally wouldn't purchase this. If you're thinking about buying one of these, I advise you to buy a size smaller than you usually wear, just because it'll fit and stick better. This bra comes in the colours nude and black and you have the option to buy it as a boost or as a normal bra. All items mentioned and pictured are from Boux Avenue.

Maybelline The Rock Nudes Palette Review

maybelline the rock nudes palette review blog

After falling in love with the shades in this palette, I decided to ask for it for Christmas. I don't use drugstore palettes that often, but I always love to try them out and see if they're any good for such an affordable price. This palette includes twelve eyeshadows; six shimmers and six mattes.

I'm disappointed that the shades don't have individual names, does anyone else like to know the shades by names? Haha. All of the shades are very soft and powdery which can sometimes cause a little bit of fallout - make sure you're wearing your best eye primer! The majority of shades are more pigmented than others. The only two shades that aren't very pigmented are the second and fourth on the bottom row.

the rock nudes palette swatches
These swatches are in the order of the palette. Top row - top picture. Bottom row - bottom picture.
Hardly any of the shades are true to the colour they look in the palette. A good example is the electric blue colour in the palette, on the top row. When I swatched this, it was more of a dark grey, brownish colour with blue sparkles in it. This shade was a huge disappointment as I was so excited to wear this and I was expecting more of it. Whereas, the first and last shades on the top row are extremely true to colour.

Overall, this palette is touch and go. I'd personally only use a few of the shades out of the twelve.
Is it worth buying? For £9.99, yes as I'd still use the shades. If you're thinking to yourself that you wouldn't use them then don't purchase it.

Spectrum Brushes: The Glam Clam Review

spectrum glam clam review

the glam clam review blog post

After browsing the Spectrum website admiring their brushes throughout 2016, I asked for the glam clam for Christmas. How gorgeous is the packaging though?! I like to keep my makeup brushes in a holder as it's easier and less messy than keeping them in my makeup bag. Obviously I can't throw this cute lilac clam away though. Great, more unused clutter for my room. But, this is great for travel purposes and sleeping out, so, it does come in useful.

The brushes remind me of mermaids and unicorns. I love the contrast of the two purple colours with the coppery gold and turquoise coloured handle. I feel like the brushes don't pick up as much product as I'd have liked, probably because I'm used to using my Real Techniques brushes, they literally pick up everything. But, these mermaid brushes still do the job and pick up just enough product. All of the eye brushes apply and blend incredibly well. The set contains:

-B01 Flat top buffer
-A01 Large domed powder
-A05 Precision blush
-B03 Buffing concealer
-A06 Large fluffy shader
-B06 Tall tapered blender
-B04 Small angled blender
-A17 Angled brow
-A15 Lip liner
-A09 Angled eyeliner

I usually use my fingers to pat in my concealer but I thought I'd give the concealer buffer brush a go. It's fantastic at buffing in my concealer, it doesn't leave any streaks and it doesn't take away any concealer from my face, like some brushes do. I'm not going to go into much detail about every single brush as they all do the same good job. They're all super soft, they all apply and blend well, they don't leave any streaks, they're easy to clean and I haven't had any bristles fall out.

If you're looking for some new, pretty, long-lasting makeup brushes, these are the ones for you! Buy the set for just £59.99 here.

What I Got For Christmas 2016

First of all, happy new year! I've been blogging for just over two years and seriously, where has the time gone? I have started to see a few of the annual 'what I got for Christmas' posts floating about and thought that it's about time I wrote mine up. I didn't really know what I wanted for Christmas this year, I find it harder and harder to give people ideas every year but I was extremely happy and grateful with everything I received.

I really wasn't expecting a new handbag as I have SO many, but everything about this Ted Baker bag is beautiful! I also got a black Ted Baker clutch and mini purse for when I need a smaller bag for nights out. My boyfriend bought tickets to go and see Olly Murs in April at the O2 along with this t-shirt I have to wear, haha. Honestly, I wish he recorded my reaction, I was so happy! I wanted some new makeup brushes and after hearing that the Spectrum brushes were amazing, I asked my nan to buy them for me for Christmas. I picked out the glam clam, the colours of the brushes are so pretty and super soft too!

After so many people have raved about this book, I asked for it for Christmas. I haven't yet read it but I'm super excited to get my head in it. Along with my 2017 diary, I got a Swarovski pen. Yes, it's everything a girl could wish for... rose gold, crystals and pink! It also comes with a replaceable ink cartridge, so when your pen runs out, you don't have to throw it away. I got a few pieces of jewellery for crimbo too; choker from Lovisa, bracelet from Swarovski, both rings from Pandora and earrings from Warren James.

My mum bought me these knee high boots for Christmas back in October, they're so lush and they look amazing on! Like every year, I got multiple bath products. I'm not going to lie, I've still got some leftover from last Christmas and my birthday. I think I may have to share my products with my mum and sister so I can get through my stash a little quicker. And of course, I got the random bits and bobs like money, gift cards, chocolate, jelly beans, socks, deodorant etc.

What did you get for Christmas?
